Information for Students Outside EU

For students interested in Bioinformatics and coming from countries outside EU situation is a bit more complicated. First of all you should contact Czech embassy in your country and ask if:

1. Your home country has an agreement signed with about visa-free
2. What are the requirements to get valid student (or permanent later on) visa for the time of your studies here. If you need visa for your studies of Bioinformatics, you should USUALLY fulfill following requirements (may vary, compiled from previous experience):

1. Study acceptance confirmation letter.
2. Accommodation conformation letter (see Accommodation section).
3. Personal bank account with given amount of money deposited (may vary – you should ask appropriate embassy for exact amount).
4. Criminal record letter.
5. Health insurance.

Bear in mind that you are going to study in two countries – Czech Republic and Austria. Therefore I suggest all people of good will to get visa valid for both countries, or better for the Schengen (EU member states) countries. If you really get lost, and you desperately need assistance contact Dr. Vohnout (see section General Contacts).
