Measure on admission
to the Bachelor’s Degree Program Biological Chemistry
for the academic year 2026/2027
According to Sections 48–50 of Act No. 111/1998 Coll., on Higher Education Institutions and on Amendments and Supplements to Other Acts (the Higher Education Act), I hereby announce the conditions for admission to the cross-border bachelor’s program Biological Chemistry conducted in English at the Faculty of Science of the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice (hereinafter FSci USB) in cooperation with Johannes Kepler University, Linz, Austria.

Article 2. Admission procedure deadline
Applications can be submitted until April 10, 2026. Documents proving completion of full secondary or full secondary vocational education must be uploaded to the electronic application system by June 17, 2026, 11:00. The entrance examination will take place on June 18–19, 2026.
Article 3. Submitting applications
Applications are submitted electronically via the form available at https://www.jcu.cz/cz/prijimaci-zkousky/e-prihlaska. A mandatory attachment is proof of payment of the admission procedure fee, unless paid by card directly in the application environment, and a transcript of subjects completed at secondary school with grades. Documents can be added after submission, but if not provided by the end of the application period, the application will be excluded. Payment instructions are in Article 6.
Article 4. Admission criteria
General and specific conditions, including entrance exam content and options for admission without an exam, are set out in the document ‘Conditions for Admission to Bachelor’s Programs’ approved by the Academic Senate of FS USB on October 16, 2026, available in the Applicants section of the faculty website and below in Articles 4.1–4.2.
Article 4.1. Entrance Examination
The entrance exam is held on-site as a written test in chemistry and mathematics at high school level. Applicants scoring less than 50% in any test will not be admitted.

Article 4.2. Other admission methods
Applicants who meet at least one of the following conditions may be admitted to study without an entrance examination:
a) Participation in the national round of a science olympiad in high school categories in Czech republic or Slovak republic;
b) Repeated participation in a regional round of a science olympiad in Czech republic or Slovak republic;
c) Successful completion (score 5–3) of International AP exams by College Board;
d) Participation in MATEMATIKA+ tests by CERMAT with result 1–2;
e) Achieving percentile 70 or better in chemistry and mathematics in National Comparative Exams or SCIO tests within one year. (https://www.scioexams.com)
For admission without an entrance examination, applicants must submit certified copies of documents proving that they meet the relevant conditions together with their application for exemption from the entrance examination by 11:00 a.m. on June 15, 2026, to the Study Department of the Faculty of Science. If the document is issued electronically and signed with a qualified certificate by a representative of the issuing organization, a certified copy is not required; applicants need only upload the document to the electronic application form.
Article 4.3. Ranking of applicants
If more candidates apply than specified in Article 1, the candidates will be ranked according to the following criteria (in descending order):
i. applicants meeting the conditions set out in points (a) to (d) of Article 4.2 of this Decision
ii. applicants who meet the conditions under point e) of Article 4.2 of this decision, together with applicants whose score in the entrance examination tests is at least 70%, ranked according to the percentile achieved or the score achieved in the entrance examination as a percentage, if the entrance examination consists of several tests, the arithmetic mean of the percentage success rates in those tests is used.
iii. applicants whose score in the entrance examination tests is less than 70% but higher than or equal to 50% will be ranked according to their score in the entrance examination as a percentage; if the entrance examination consists of several tests, the arithmetic mean of the percentage success rates in those tests will be used.
Article 5. Applicants with special needs
Applicants with specific needs (disabilities, chronic illnesses, or other health problems) are entitled to support measures and services provided by the university during the entrance examination and, if admitted, during their studies. If they wish to exercise this right, they must select YES in the "Consideration of specific needs" field in the electronic application form. After completing all the administrative requirements associated with submitting an application to study, they will be contacted by staff from the Support Center for Students with Specific Needs, who will inform them of the next steps. The fee is payable by: only applicants who can prove that they have completed secondary education by means of a document issued by a foreign institution or a translation thereof; applicants who can prove that they have successfully passed the international AP (Advanced Placement) exams organized by the College Board are exempt from the fee; if an applicant applies for more than one program, the fee is paid only once.

Article 7. Decision on acceptance/rejection
A written decision on acceptance or rejection will be sent to each applicant after the overall ranking of applicants has been evaluated.
If an applicant disagrees with the decision not to admit them to study, they have the right to appeal against the dean's decision within 15 days of receiving the decision. If the dean does not comply and does not change his decision, he will forward the appeal to the rector of the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice for a decision. The rector's decision is final. The appeal must be justified on the grounds that the fulfillment of the conditions set out in Article 4 was not correctly assessed. In other cases, the appeal shall be considered unjustified. For the necessary argumentation, the applicant has the right to inspect their own documentation, which was the basis for the decision. They do not have the right to inspect the documentation of other applicants or the minutes of the committees.
Article 8. Final provisions
The Czech language version of this Measure is binding for the admission procedure.
All documents issued during the admission procedure are delivered electronically via the USB information system (in the e-application environment).
