On 30.6.2014 the last phase of local node installation and follow-up high-speed connection of distributed national infrastructure ELIXIR_CZ has been completed. The national node is in meantime installed in the pilot phase in the premises of national coordinator of the ELIXIR project in the Czech Republic, the Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry AS CR.
Faculty of Science of the University of South Bohemia in Ceske Budejovice and Biological Centre of the Academy of Science of the Czech Republic are important biological data producers as well as strong players on the field of life sciences. The local node and its configuration have adapted to local specialists from mentioned institutions and their needs. The node will be used primarily for bioinformatics scientific disciplines like Genomic Assembly of Phylogenetics. Local ELIXIR node has become the first distributed node of such type in the Czech Republic.
System installation and connection to the national infrastructure has been done by national node administrator, Metacentrum NGI of the CESNET association.
The project cannot be realized without financial support of the Development Fund of the CESNET association.
