Rector of the Johannes Kepler University in Linz will award Prof. RNDr. Libor Grubhoffer, CSc. Dr.h.c. a honorary doctorate for his achievements in the field of biochemistry and for development of collaboration between the University of South Bohemia and the Johannes Kepler University in Linz. The honorary doctorate will be awarded on Nov. 20th 2018 >

Prof. L. Grubhoffer is a PI of a newly funded project "Flavivirus-host interactions on the transcriptional and translational level", in collaboration with Dr. Marshall E. Bloom (Laboratory of Virology, National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, NIH, Rocky Mountain Laboratories, USA). >
The scientific activities of the institute are closely related to biological disciplines traditional for the Faculty of Science (formerly Faculty of Biological Sciences) or the institutes of the Biology Centre of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic that co-exist and closely cooperate in one campus. Besides, new interdisciplinary research areas are developing on the border with physics, mathematics and informatics. The research ate the institute can be divided in several areas:
Another important role of the institute is a training of a future chemistry teachers for secondary schools. The quality of the education process should be rised by the contact of the students with the research and experts working in the field of their approbation.
The study of chemistry at the Faculty of Science, University of South Bohemia offers students unique combination of rapidly developing chemistry, excellence in biological sciences and pleasant and friendly study atmosphere.
