Contact Persons for Social Safety Now Available at the Faculty

The Faculty of Science, University of South Bohemia, has introduced a Social Safety system aimed at fostering an environment based on respect, trust, and safety for all students and employees. As part of this system, Contact Persons for Social Safety have now been appointed to complement the work of the Faculty's Ombudswoman, Zuzana Rathouská.

If you encounter inappropriate behaviour at the faculty, experience an uncomfortable situation, or are unsure whether certain conduct is acceptable, you do not have to face it alone. You can contact either the Ombudswoman directly or one of the Contact Persons.

Who are the Contact Persons?

Contact Persons serve as a first point of support for students and employees of the faculty. They provide a safe and confidential space for conversation, help individuals understand their options, and, when needed, can facilitate access to additional support services or accompany a person to the Ombudswoman or another responsible representative.

It is important to note that Contact Persons do not investigate incidents, make decisions on behalf of those seeking support, or provide legal or psychological services. Their primary role is to listen, offer support, and help people navigate the available options and possible next steps.

When should you contact a Contact Person?

You may wish to reach out if:

  • you are unsure whether a situation constitutes inappropriate behaviour,
  • you would like to discuss an uncomfortable experience in a safe environment,
  • you have witnessed inappropriate conduct,
  • you want to learn about your options without making a formal report,
  • you would like to report inappropriate behaviour but are unsure how to proceed.
  • How does the Social Safety system work at the Faculty of Science?

The Social Safety system is available to all students and employees of the faculty. Its purpose is to provide support to people who have experienced or witnessed inappropriate behaviour, such as bullying, discrimination, humiliation, manipulation, sexual harassment, or other forms of abuse of power.

The first step may simply be contacting the Ombudswoman or one of the Contact Persons. Any decision regarding further action always remains with the person seeking support.

Where can you find the contacts?
