Current insights into insect immune memory

The review provides a comprehensive overview of documented cases of different forms of immune memory and summarizes experimental evidence supporting current hypotheses regarding the mechanisms of antiviral and antibacterial immune memory. The review also highlights key questions that remain unresolved in this area and presents Drosophila melanogaster as a model organism suitable for investigating mechanisms of innate immune memory in insects. The authors conclude by discussing the significance of this research as well as the potential for vaccination in insects.
