Green Roofs as Havens for Biodiversity

As is tradition, we’re preparing a major professional seminar in České Budějovice this September—this year in collaboration with the Calla association. The 2025 seminar will explore the role of green roofs in supporting biodiversity.

🗓 Date: 15 September 2025
🕤 Time: 9:30 AM
📍 Venue: Faculty of Science, University of South Bohemia, Building B, České Budějovice

The aim of the event is to introduce professionals to current topics surrounding green roofs and their ecological value. Key themes will include the design and establishment of green roofs, the use of native seeds and plants, support for pollinators, and the broader potential of green roofs in architecture. While the seminar is primarily intended for representatives of public authorities, NGOs, and specialist companies, it is also open to anyone with an interest in the topic.

The afternoon program will include a guided tour of a city park restored using nature-based solutions and a live demonstration of a seed-harvesting brush machine. We are also exploring the possibility of a visit to a selected green roof for a limited number of participants.
