Clinical Diagnostics Laboratory

The LKD provides diagnostic services in the field of medical microbiology. Its activities primarily include the isolation of nucleic acids from patient samples and their testing for the presence of non-human genomes, as well as serological testing using immunodetection methods (ELISA, Western blot). Additional examinations within the scope of specialization 802 – Medical Microbiology are also performed. Consultation services are available as well.

The LKD participates in the practical training of students at the Faculty of Science of the University of South Bohemia. Within the framework of contract-based services, the laboratory is also involved in scientific research and development projects focused on laboratory diagnostics and infectious biology.

The LKD provides testing services only for self-paying clients.

Detection of Tick-Borne Encephalitis Virus Antibodies (IgG) - Determination of antibody levels after vaccination as an indicative assessment of whether a booster vaccination may be required. 

Detection of Lyme Disease Antibodies (IgG and IgM) - This test enables the detection of early antibodies indicating a recent or ongoing acute infection, as well as protective antibodies indicating a past infection.

Detection of SARS-CoV-2 RNA - Molecular biological testing using quantitative PCR to detect an active COVID-19 infection.

Detection of Respiratory Pathogens - Testing is performed using multiplex quantitative PCR for the detection of selected viral and bacterial respiratory pathogens.

The laboratory is located at the Faculty of Science, University of South Bohemia, Building C, 1st Floor.

The laboratory also accepts external samples based on an agreement with the referring physician. The collection site is responsible for the proper collection procedure, while the laboratory provides support and consultation regarding sampling-related issues.
