About event
Join us for our autumn SWAP on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, in the lobby of Building C and Room C3, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Open your closets and send unused clothes out into the world! Make room on your bookshelves and other shelves, too…
A SWAP is a free exchange of usable items that can continue to serve someone else. It helps reduce the need to buy new things and supports sustainability.
Thank you for joining us!
What you can swap:
- Seasonal clothing — clean, undamaged clothes for autumn and winter that you no longer love, have grown tired of, don’t fit, or are taking up space in your closet
- Books and magazines — read or unread, interesting or boring
- Plants — healthy seedlings, offshoots, cuttings, or seeds
Bring items, take items, or exchange them as you wish—but please keep quantities reasonable (one bag maximum).
Please don’t bring this time:
Summer clothes and accessories, household items, children’s toys, sports equipment, cosmetics…
Frequently asked questions:
Is there an admission fee? - No, the event is free.
Is the event open to the public? Absolutely - everyone is welcome.
Can I bring items even if I don’t plan to take anything? Yes. You’re welcome to drop things off for the swap; perhaps you’ll find something to take next time.
I’m coming from far away and forgot to bring anything. Can I still choose something? Of course! Come along and help give a lovely item a new lease on life.
Why don’t you accept certain categories? We want items to be useful right away. A winter coat is unlikely to find a new home at a spring swap, just as a summer dress may not be in demand at an autumn one. Unfortunately, we don’t have space to store items for you, so we take the season into account to make the exchange more effective.
Do donated clothes need to be washed and ironed? An ironed shirt will fly off the rack, but crisp collars and sharp creases aren’t required. We do ask that clothes be clean, hole-free, usable, and complete (one glove only keeps one hand warm).
Can I bring a bag of items at another time? Unfortunately, we don’t currently have space to store items. We recommend arranging with colleagues at your workplace to bring your items to the designated spot on the day of the event.
What happens to anything left over after the swap? We’ll sort the remaining items: plants will decorate faculty corridors, selected books will go to shared libraries, and clothes will be sent to charities or collection points, depending on their condition and suitability.
