Biodiverse green roofs supporting natural plant and insect communities

The aim of the project is to strengthen the role of green roofs as a support for insect and plant communities in urban areas. We focus on evaluating the potential of extensive green roofs and designing specific technical solutions that will increase the biological value of existing roofs and support the creation of new biodiversity roofs. The project also includes field research on current extensive green roofs – from the perspective of vegetation, pollinators, and crawling insects. At the same time, demonstration biodiversity roofs are being implemented to serve as inspiration with practical examples. The knowledge gained can contribute to the creation of rules for subsidy programs at various levels and help both professionals and the general public in designing roofs of high ecological value.
