I am also a fairly sociable and informal person who enjoys meeting good people regardless of their status, age, gender or anything else. Our faculty has a wonderful spirit, and I would like to help it remain open, friendly and safe; for this to work, certain boundaries need to be noticed and respected. Is someone crossing your boundaries? Don’t be afraid to speak up and make your boundaries clear. Are you worried and reluctant to confront the person directly, or is there anything else that is troubling you? Everything can be addressed, and there is always more than one option. I am from the UK, but have happily lived in the Czech Republic for more than a decade. I teach English, Czech as a foreign language, and intercultural communication. My own experience with difficult life challenges led me to become a contact person. I know what it is like to look for a way out of complicated relationships or situations that seem impossible to resolve. Today I know that help exists and that things can definitely turn for the better, even when a person does not believe it at the time. I would like to be here for anyone dealing with complicated relationships in a group, struggling with insecurity, or simply needing to confide in someone in a safe, non-judgemental environment—whether the issue is a personal crisis or a topic connected with LGBT+ identity. I may not seem like the loudest person in the room, and I am still working on my own self-confidence. But that is precisely why I know how much courage it takes to ask for help. If you are afraid to come, do not worry, you are not alone in this—I will probably be nervous too, and that is okay. I will be very happy to talk through anything and try to help.
