The University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice has received significant support from Česká spořitelna, a.s., which donated CZK 100,000 to advance education, scientific, and research activities connected with the university’s presence on Svalbard. This donation will be used primarily for teaching and research in the unique Arctic environment, which is crucial for studying climate change, ecology, and organism adaptation.
Česká spořitelna has long supported education and innovation that prepare the young generation for future challenges. The partnership with the University of South Bohemia is an example of cooperation that connects academia with responsible business and contributes to building a sustainable society.
Why Svalbard?
The Czech Arctic Research Station on Svalbard offers students and scientists from the Faculty of Science a unique opportunity to work in the extreme conditions of the Arctic. The knowledge gained helps us better understand global changes that affect not only polar regions but also life in temperate zones.
Thanks to the donation from Česká spořitelna, it will be possible to expand educational programs, support field research, and provide quality facilities for students and research teams. This step is an important contribution to the development of international cooperation and to strengthening the University of South Bohemia’s position in Arctic research.
